Breathtaking Dubai Break

Land at DXB, where immigration and baggage take 45 to 75 minutes at busy hours, then ride 25 to 40 minutes to your hotel in Al Barsha or Deira. Dubai runs an hour and a half behind India, so the body barely notices the shift. Keep the first night easy - a stroll along Dubai Marina or JBR is enough.

Old Dubai works best before the heat: the Al Fahidi historic district, the abra crossing over Dubai Creek, and the Gold and Spice souks in one walkable morning. Rest through the afternoon, then head up the Burj Khalifa observation deck - reserve your slot in advance - and finish with the fountain show at its base.

Safari day. Keep the morning light with the Dubai Frame or the Museum of the Future, both worth pre-booking. Desert pickup usually comes around 3 to 3.30 pm for dune driving, a camp evening and a BBQ dinner, with drop-back near 9.30 pm. If anyone prefers a gentler drive over the dunes, say so - operators will dial it down on request.

Ride the monorail out along Palm Jumeirah to Atlantis and spend the day on the beach or at Aquaventure waterpark. As the light drops, choose between Dubai Mall for the evening or a wooden dhow cruise on the Marina - the slower, older way to see the towers lit up.

A full free day, and the smart use of it is one anchor plus rest. The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo sit inside the Dubai Mall complex, all air-conditioned, all in one building. Travelling in the cooler months, Global Village and Miracle Garden make a fine open-air evening instead.

Fit in last-minute shopping before the transfer out. Reach DXB a full three hours before an international departure - the airport is enormous and Terminal 3 security queues are unpredictable. If your return is a late flight, ask for a late checkout in the final quote rather than improvising with the luggage.
